I recently came across a blog called twentysomething tales, which I personally found captivating.
It is written by a fellow North American who now lives in Paris with her French Manfriend, officially as a freelance writer but unofficially keeping an eye on things over there and reporting back.
Tom is the only French guy I’ve ever dated, so I had it easy when it came to the whole French dating game. Our relationship developed from genuine friendship and wasn’t rushed or forced.
He’s really easy going, spoke a good level of English when we met and was familiar with American culture from TV and movies (and what did I know about French dating culture at the time? But as time went on and we discovered more about dating customs in our respective countries, we felt lucky to have found each other and just let things work naturally.
I feel, seeing as I too am currently in a similar situation that it is my responsibility to add on a couple of crucial factors that Leo may have overlooked.

For Ella (and any other American gals here who are dating a Frenchman), Are you interested in French guys because of being interested in France or is it the other way around?
Me, I've been sadly disadvantaged in that department because where I live isn't exactly abundant in French visitors or inhabitants, and unfortunately I've never been in the position to travel to France.
Even if it seems like they’re not feeling it, it’s definitely possible that you’ll still end up having the romantic French encounter you’ve always (not-so-secretly) wanted. Others were rather quiet and aloof and then would make their move with an unmistakable gesture—either going in for the kiss at the end of the night or asking for a second date right away. Some dates seemed like they would love to see me again, and then I never heard from them. While many on the app will never initiate conversation or will chat for awhile until one of you decides you’re not interested, the ones who want to see you will ask you out. My friends and I have met many French men through Tinder, and thus have learned a few things about the dating culture as a result: If a Frenchman wants you, you’ll know it.
